Gertrude Contemporary will move to new architecturally designed premises in June 2017. This move, the first in its 32-year history, represents an exciting new phase for Gertrude.  The new building at 21-31 High Street, Preston South (the top end of Thornbury) was previously a large retail showroom.  The flexible, wide-span building will allow for custom-designed exhibition spaces, sixteen non-residential artist studios and offices all on one level.

As a leading centre for contemporary art and ideas, Gertrude provides a space for artists and the public to engage in risk-taking contemporary art.  The new premises will enhance Gertrude’s artistic program, supporting the production and presentation of contemporary art practice. It will offer a highly functional and flexible space with contemporary exhibition gallery and studio infrastructure; shared spaces to facilitate creative collaboration and dialogue; and accessibility for audiences and artists.

The new space and first major exhibition in the new premises will be launched at the end of July. For more information click here.
