Heide presents a two-week pop-up exhibition in celebration of Gorman’s decade-long collaboration with visual artists.
GORMAN: TEN YEARS OF COLLABORATING
Heide Museum of Modern Art, 3 – 17 March 2019
The exhibition will feature garments from a new range by Gorman in conjunction with ten artists who have worked with the Australian clothing label since 2009: Rachel Castle, Megan Grant, Claire Johnson, Dana Kinter, Elke Kramer, Rhys Lee, Ellie Malin, Mirka Mora, Liz Payne and Miranda Skoczek.
Housed in the iconic modernist Heide II gallery, the garments will be displayed alongside the artworks which inspired them.
The project will be launched with a runway event on Sunday 3 March presenting the new range, and opening the 2019 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Runway event tickets are available exclusively at vamff.com.au. The exhibition will be open to the general public from 5 March 2019.
“I am constantly driven by the fruits of collaboration, the united forces of minds and ideas which together can create something completely new,” says Lisa Gorman. “Having worked with over 80 artists, makers and creators over the past decade to re-imagine and re-fabricate artworks into wearable collections, it's incredibly exciting to present this multi-faceted show at Heide.”
Heide Museum of Modern Art Artistic Director, Lesley Harding, said: “Heide is delighted to present this anniversary exhibition celebrating Gorman’s twentieth birthday and ten years of partnering with some of Australia’s favourite artists. It is testimony to the magic that happens when people from different disciplines team up and work together to explore new realms.”
