Looking for a chance to come to Varuna? Applications are now open for our biggest Fellowship round 

Open to writers working in all creative genres, applications are now open for Varuna’s Residential Fellowships. Over 29 Fellowships will be awarded for residencies in 2024.  

Flagship Fellowships will be awarded to exceptional applications, including  a two-week First Nations Flagship Fellowship, and a fully funded fellowship and travel subsidy for a parent or carer who faces barriers to finding time and space to write. Other Flagship Fellowships include the Eleanor Dark Fellowship (Fiction), Eric Dark Fellowship (Non-Fiction), Varuna Poetry Fellowship, Mick Dark Fellowship, Ray Koppe/ASA Young Writer’s Fellowship.

Our prestigious Varuna Residential Fellowships offer two to three weeks of full board and accommodation including a prepared evening meal, uninterrupted time to write in your own private studio, the companionship of your fellow writers and a one-hour Varuna Conversation with a Varuna consultant.

Applications open on 20 June and close 31 July 2023. 

Fellowships can be taken between January — August 2024.
